Model 1/3/5 year total cost

PlexiFact + Snowflake
+ Databricks

Enter your real numbers. Get a side-by-side cost model across PlexiFact, Snowflake, and Databricks over 1, 3, or 5 years - using public list prices and explicit assumptions.

These are not "either/or" choices - many of our customers run all three. The calculator shows what each layer of the stack would cost.

How we calculated this

Snowflake (public list price - Standard Edition)

  • Compute: $2.00 per credit. Assumed X-Small warehouse at 1 credit/hour (compute_hours x $2)
  • Storage: $40 per TB-month on-demand. Active data volume x 12 months
  • Internal data engineering: 1 FTE at $250K/yr for fund-data layer build/maintain (domain schema, reconciliation, lineage in dbt/SQL)
  • Integration / SI: ~$300K one-time for the initial fund-data layer build (year 1 only)
  • Ops reduction: ~40% versus baseline (data still flows but domain layer is custom-built)

Databricks (public list price - Premium tier)

  • Compute: blended $0.45/DBU across SQL ($0.55) and Jobs ($0.30). Assumed 1 DBU per compute_hour for typical fund workloads
  • Storage: $23 per TB-month for Delta tables on cloud, plus ~25% cloud egress / management markup
  • Internal data engineering: 1 FTE at $250K/yr (PySpark + Delta + domain logic)
  • Integration / SI: ~$300K one-time for the initial lakehouse domain layer build (year 1 only)
  • Ops reduction: ~45% versus baseline (notebooks + Spark help, domain layer still custom-built)

PlexiFact (tier-based)

  • Platform: tier match by AUM (Emerging / Growth / Scale). Indicative published anchors - actual quote per engagement
  • Compute & storage: included in platform tier (right-sized for fund-data workloads, scales with growth)
  • Internal data engineering: $0 - embedded PlexiFact engineer included in the platform
  • Integration: included - 60-day deployment with success-criteria guarantee. No separate SI engagement
  • Ops reduction: ~80% versus baseline (domain-native automation does the heavy lifting)

Growth and time horizon

  • Data volume and compute hours compound at the annual growth rate you entered
  • Snowflake/Databricks compute and storage scale with that growth. PlexiFact platform tier holds unless AUM crosses a band
  • Integration / SI is one-time (year 1). Internal engineering, ops, and infrastructure costs recur every year

Caveats

List prices are starting points. Negotiated discounts, reserved capacity, enterprise tiers, and workload patterns shift results significantly. Most customers run a combination of these tools - PlexiFact ships connectors that read and write Snowflake and Databricks. The calculator models the all-in cost of running each as the primary fund-data platform.

Directional estimates using public list prices and documented assumptions. Your numbers will vary based on negotiated pricing, workload patterns, and existing investments. We will model your actual situation in a 30-min Fit Check - and honestly tell you if a combination of tools is the better fit.
